Cherrybrook was formed in 2008 with the intent of offering something different to children playing grassroots football. We envisioned a game played by children, where they were encouraged to develop and become not only good players but also better people. We wanted to provide the best environment, best coaching, best facilities, and importantly, make it fun; for it to be about the players.

This approach has proven to be highly successful, with the club staffed by over 130 qualified volunteer coaches, over 700 players of all ages, and 70 teams ranging from U5s to veterans. We worked closely with the council and the football foundation, first obtaining a lease for Laithwaite Park and then submitting a bid in 2015 for its development. Despite Covid and the war in Ukraine, these plans have come to fruition, resulting in a legacy site that footballers will be able to use for many years to come.
